Well written with a great plot and a beautiful series. I truly enjoyed it. The characters were great, lot of action that keep you on your toes, with a lot of emotions to boot. If you want to read a great series I highly recommend this one!
V.M. Black gives her readers what they want and so much more. Out of Bounds, the fifth book in the Taken by the Panther series is one of those books that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s intense, addictive, emotional, captivating, unpredictable… it is everything! V.M. Black’s characters are great, the story-line is good, and the writing is easy to read. There are so many unknowns that you never know what is going to happen.
What an exciting, action packed way to end this series!! It was great from beginning to end. I cannot wait for whatever V.M. has in store for us next because every one of her series has been an edge-of-your-seat love story. Glad I discovered V.M. Black when I did. You will be so glad you discovered her too!
“Tara,” he repeated.
She turned to face him squarely with the water still cascading off her body. “Dammit, Chay, I’m such an idiot. I’ll get out of your way, and you can get your shower and sleep, which is what you should be doing right now, not dealing with a stupid, over-emotional—”
But he stepped forward into the shower spray, robe and all, and pulled her against his body. The terrycloth rasped slightly against her skin, and Tara tried to protest at his gesture, but she couldn’t quite make the words come.
Then he was kissing her, gently, sweetly, with more tenderness than she’d ever imagined that a kiss could hold. And she was crying against his mouth, but he kept kissing, kept holding her until the tears were chased away by his touch.
It shouldn’t make her feel better. Not after everything that she’d been responsible for. When he pulled back, he looked deep into her eyes with his dark ones, and his brow furrowed above his chiseled cheekbones.
“You have nothing to feel guilty about. The decision was mine and mine alone. If there is guilt to be felt, let’s hope I’ll have a chance to wallow in it—later.”
She shook her head, but she still couldn’t say anything, just swallowing hard instead.
“You’re clean now. Get out. Find clothes. Go to bed.”
“I don’t want to be alone,” Tara whispered. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be thinking about myself right now. I should be thinking about you and about what you need to do, but I haven’t been alone for more than a minute since I changed back, and I’m scared.”
It all came out in a rush, the tangled knot of words that tried to represent an even more tangled knot of feelings. When the panther had pushed her out of her own mind, she hadn’t been afraid. There wasn’t enough of her left to feel fear. But now that she was back in her own head and her own skin, she was terrified. Terrified of what she hadn’t been able to be afraid of alone.
A corner of his full mouth lifted. “Not too scared to pee alone, though.”
Tara began laughing despite herself, the sounds burbling out of her throat almost hysterically. It went on and on until she could barely catch her breath. “I don’t know where that came from. You’re right. I peed alone last night. And I started to take a shower alone, too. I don’t even know where I am in my own head anymore—”
Another kiss stopped her, this time deeper, and he drove her back against the wall of the narrow shower as his hand skimmed over her body and his tongue pushed to her mouth, stroking her until her body rocked with it and heat trickled up across her skin.
When he pulled back and she opened her eyes again, the light of the room seemed too bright, and the depths of his eyes were endless. “You don’t need to explain anything, however contradictory it seems,” he said. “And you’ll never be alone again. Not in here.” He touched her temple with two fingers. “Or in here.” He touched her to one side of her breastbone, just over her heart. “Whatever happens. Do you understand me?”
Tara nodded. She did understand. She still didn’t know why this man wanted her, this man who could have almost anything he pleased. But she knew bone-deep that he did—and, bafflingly, that he always would.
